Experience and Education

As well as being a LMFT, I am a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP) and I am also fully trained and very experienced in providing Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR). These are both powerful methods for treating trauma that take into account much of what has been learned about the brain-body connection over the past couple of decades. In addition, I provide EEG Neuro-feedback, which is also on the cutting edge of treatment modalities. As we learn more about the brain and how it stores negative experiences, it becomes increasingly evident that simple talk therapy has limited effectiveness. More efficient ways of treating a wide range of psychological disorders are being explored and developed every day. I believe it is very important to stay abreast of new discoveries to provide clients with a wide range of treatment options to find what works best for each individual.

I currently divide my time between my private practice and The Camden Center, a dual diagnosis intensive outpatient program (IOP), where, as the Director of Trauma Services, I provide trauma services and family therapy. Prior to this, I helped develop Trauma Programs and delivered services to patients at both One-to-One-Treatment IOP, and Clearview Treatment Programs’ residential dual diagnosis facility and their Women’s Center, a psychiatric program designed to stabilize and treat women with trauma and Borderline Personality Disorder. In addition, I assisted the Trauma Resource Institute with training San Bernardino mental health professionals in the stabilization of displaced victims of the wild fires and I was also part of a team commissioned by the Foundation for Human Enrichment to do preliminary research to develop a SE protocol to more effectively treat veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
